Kenny Barnett is a Savage chiropractor who serves Savage and the surrounding communities in MN .
Dr. Barnett has been a chiropractor for nearly 10 years. From an early age he had in the back of his mind that being a chiropractor would be a really cool career. However, it took the graduation of one of his childhood friends, Dr. Jason Cupp to trigger his desire to follow that dream. At age 28, with 3 kids under the age of 4, a full-time job and a deer in the headlights look, he started the journey. Upon completing his undergraduate studies at Iowa Lakes Community College he attended Northwestern Health Sciences University where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree.
Family is at the core of his values. Dr. Barnett and his wife, Theresa, together have 5 children: Tyeson, Brooklyn, Jaydn, Sydney, and Billy. They also have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Boji. Dr. Barnett is an avid hunter and loves the outdoors. He enjoys the peacefulness and the beauty of nature as he sits in a tree watching all the wildlife. One of his favorite things to do is to take Boji pheasant hunting and watch his dog work the field.
Dr. Barnett is a kid at heart and is very involved in sports. He has coached all of his kids in every sport they’ve played and finds great enjoyment in teaching them ‘the game’. Football is his passion but he also plays baseball, softball, volleyball, and golf. He’s been active in the Eagan coaching community as well as with the Prior Lake, P.L.A.Y. sports programs. All 5 of the kids are very active in sports, dance, and cheerleading. Although it keeps the family always moving, there is no greater enjoyment than mom and dad getting to watch the kids play and perform.
Kenny Barnett uses chiropractic care to improve the health and wellness in all areas of patient’s lives, whether they are having problems with back pain or neck pain, or just want to start feeling better when they wake up in the morning. Dr. Barnett takes a “whole person” approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column, and Dr. Barnett will be able to determine the root of the problem and create a personalized chiropractic and wellness plan to suit each patient’s individual needs. Under the supervision and care of our caring and skilled chiropractor, patients report higher functioning in all areas of their lives.
Dr. Shirley Himanga graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College (now NWHSU) in November of 2003. She initially took over a private practice in Apple Valley and then went on to become one of the founding chiropractors at the SMSC Wellness Center on the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community reservation and resided there for a little over 9 years. She decided to resign from her full-time position after having baby #2 in order to be a more hands-on mama to her daughter.
Dr. Himanga took off 5 months prior to starting her own practice within the walls of Prior Lake Chiropractic. Since then she had baby #3 and loves that she can continue to be more hands-on with her children while also taking care of others and theirs! Dr. Shirley is excited to continue to expand her practice now within the Pathways clinic which fits both her knowledge and her practice skills a little better. As a mom, Dr. Shirley knows that parenting is hard and has a passion for helping children and new moms-to-be with both chiropractic and lifestyle skills. If you are looking to explore alternative health options for anything ranging from colic & ear issues to digestive and anti-aging solutions, Dr. Shirley is your person!
Dr. Shirley Himanga is certified in Chiropractic Acupuncture, Pediatric & Prenatal Chiropractic, Basic Homeopathy, and Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Himanga also has an education and plenty of experience dealing with sports performance and injuries – both prevention and treatment. Her skillset similarly includes Rock/Kinesio taping, Gua sha/Graston technique, Kinesiology Muscle testing (food sensitivities and environmental triggers), Methylation concerns (genetic testing and supplement treatments), and Therapeutic-grade essential oil recommendations.
Dr. Shirley lives in Prior Lake with her fiancé, 2 daughters, a son, and a bearded dragon. When she isn’t behind clinic walls, she enjoys being outside running or enjoying nature, or most days you can find her at the gym getting a sweat on!
